The last may not have been heard in the political struggle for the Divisional chairmanship of the PDP in Dekina Local government area of Kogi state.

Political actors bared it all as former governor Idris Wada heard directly from some of the stakeholders of the party in the local government.

The incumbent acting divisional chairman, Hussein Ibrahim Ejini, defended his shaky mandate. The mandate is rickety because the paper he presented as evidence to buttress the claim was punctured by those opposed to him.

Hon. Usman Atache, one of the aspirants in the race for the top party job, said that the signatures on the paper relied on by Ejini were signed in pursuance of an attendance where they were called to declare their aspirations to run for chairmanship of the party.
In the same vein, Siaka Momoh Destiny, another aspirant, described the claim by Ejini as empty, saying that the acting Divisional chairman could not build his mandate on forged signatures. He added that the alleged chairman of the committee that picked Ejini did not sign the document relied upon.

The leading candidate opposed to Hon. Ejini, Ogwu Alhassan, pointed out that the process that purportedly produced Ejini was flawed and amounted to nothing as the conveners of the meeting as evidenced in the papers relied on were Stephen Akwu and Dauda Muhammed Khalid and not Alhaji Isah Amidu, the party’s ward chairman. He said further that any decision reached relying on such documents couldn’t stand judicial scrutiny.

Appeals from various quarters to allow Ejini stay on as chairman were stoutly rebuffed by parties opposed to him and threatened legal action if the right thing was not done. Such judicial action, if carried out, will not be good for the image of former governor Idris Wada and would divide the party.

A mild drama happened when one of the party members, Usman Austin Okai, who was not invited for the meeting, had a scuffle with Usman Atache. Atache reportedly manhandled Austin when he was interrupted by Austin while Atache addressed former senator Ugbane. This incident drew the anger former governor Wada.

The meeting ended without a consensus and all parties hailed the neutrality of the former governor.
