Two weeks ago I was with
Aio White
in Abocho when we met
Mcdave Agaba
, a renowned lecturer in the department of Political Science of the Kogi State University now PAAU. And conversation ensued
Alhaji: Leader!
Sir Mcdave: shucks and protested. " I am not a leader o
Alhaji: You are the original leader sir
Sir Mcdave: Nobody believes that o
Alhaji: Sir a teacher, your job is to lead people out of ignorance ( darkness) into light by refining their essence of life and opening their eyes to see the world in a better light and you have led some thousands of people into light who are now useful to themselves and the society
Sir Mcdave: Smiled and had to agree with the theory of Alhaji that is clearly indisputable
It was only after he explained this two that I understood the theory perfectly and I thought in my mind: but he is a leader too as a teacher. He has been in active service for over fifteen years now leading secondary school students into the light, qualifying them for higher education. Wow! This is obviously a conversation of two leaders ( teachers)
Prior to this meeting of two teachers, a had paid my Teacher a visit in his House to thank him for his life and service which has reformed some of us. I had not seen him since after his retirement from the civil service so I felt duty bound to do this
Teacher John is the famous disciplinarian of the prestigious and unbeatable LGEA Iji Primary School Anyigba.
In the 90s, His name echo in the mind of every student of Iji school and even across other primary schools within Anyigba because of his impactful reforms on the students. His short but brain resetting Cain was revered and feared in the school that no one wants to get into his bad book so you must behave. The influence of a good teacher can not be erased
I had my primary education under this disciplinarian who was the Headmaster as the time I joined the school in 1997 and he influenced my life greatly. Like many other teachers in the school, he took a special interest in me and guided my path to come top in the class throughout my time in the school. I never fell into his bad book except for one day in my Primary 5 and he flood butt to reset my brain
After I left the school to the second, I continued to visit them in the school until I stayed away for years.
However in 2015, I went to the school my team of members of Diamond Youth Club to enquire why every other schools is getting a face lift of new blocks and reconstruction but Iji was not
Except for one block of class room that was added to the school by
Benjamin Ikani Okolo
when he was Chairman of Dekina LG, the school was in total Dilapidation and was greatly touched and worried. The staff room where records are kept became a shower of sorts when it rained. It was a total mess
He informed us that he has written several letters even with pictures to the ministry of education for intervention all to no avail and he was frustrated. The story was pathetic!
As at the time,
Haliru Alih Abdul
was the SA on MDGs to Kogi state government and was embarking on several primary projects of such and so we took the matter to him to solicit for intervention. He was closed to
Sufyan Adam
and so it was easy to assess him. Unfortunately for us, MDGs was no longer having School projects at hand but only water projects. He however advised us to go to SUBEB that subeb was still on primary schools projects. We took the advise and wrote to the Chairman with pictures. It didn't take long after our letter that the SUBEB Chairman personally paid the school a visit. He was touched with the situation of things that he ordered an immediate remodeling of the class 6 Block. He also sited a Special School for Disabled in the school that comes with block of Houses, Toilet and Bore Hole. It was a total facelift and we were grateful to the government of Capt Wada
We were working to have the school fenced because of Encroachment until Capt Wada left office and Bello came, and he retired from civil service. The school is at the center of the town and so there several attempts to encroach on the land. It is still happening but MY Teacher left his mark on both the students and the school
I will use this opportunity to Appeal to Honorables;
Enema Paul
Hassan Baiwa Abdullahi
Alhaji Jibrin Isah
Ajie Echocho
and all well meaning members of the society to help in this #ProjectFenceIJIPrimarySchool and save the school from extinction due to encroachment someday. We know they economic situation of the country at the moment, this project if done will be a history made
Dear Teacher John,
You are the teacher who always nurtures their students’ mind with positivity. Teacher who help students to grow as people impart some of the most important teachings of life. The student never feels shy to ask you questions.
I am thankful to you for going the extra mile. I want to tell you how your kindness, support, and interest in my character development has helped me in many difficult stages of my life.
Thank you, sir, for dedicating your time and energy in teaching for long hours without charging extra. Thank you for the gift of pen as a parting gift to encourage me to continue studying
Though my words are not enough to appreciate all the hard work you have done for me and others I always remember you when I sincerely raise my hands for prayers and I feel so blessed and thankful to Almighty to have you as a constant source of motivation in my life. Your prayers for me and us in our last meeting shall be answered soon. May God bless me so that I can appreciate all of you who have ever thought me an A
