Super Eagles and Genk forward Paul Onuachu has tested positive for the coronavirus on Wednesday.
The striker has returned to Belgium amid the relaxation of lockdown in major cities across the globe.
As reported by Het Laaste Niuews, the Smurfs were subjected to a Covid-19 test in the build-up to Thursday’s preseason game against Eendracht Termien with only the Nigerian testing positive.
“In the run-up to the first exhibition game of the season, the entire Genk group was tested yesterday. Everyone tested negative except Onuachu,”
“Onuachu returned from Nigeria with a delay because airspace over Nigeria remained closed for a long time.
“For the time being, the match against Termien will continue as planned. Last weekend, a friendly game of Waasland-Beveren against KV Mechelen was canceled after a positive corona test with a player from Waasland-Beveren.”
He is expected to join the team when he fully recovers from the disease.
Onuachu made his Super Eagles debut against Egypt in a friendly and has now featured six times for the three-time African champions.
