The National Cashew Association of Nigeria (NCAN) has elected Chief
Ibrahim Duche Siaka as her state chairman at the state Congress held
today at Halims Hotel and Towers, Lokoja. Alh. Duche emerged through a
free, fair, transparent and credible election which has only him as the
candidate hence it was an affirmative election.
Chief Duche a major buyer of the cashew nuts joined the business since
80s, and has held different positions at the local and zonal level. He
has contributed immensely to the regulation of the prices and market
stabilization and control.
His business tentacles span across Kogi, Ogbomosho, Lagos, Kano and
Abuja where he have hundreds of personnel on his employment in the
cashew buying and exportation.
In his acceptance speech, Alh. Duche promises to use his new position to
influence and collaborate with the government for the betterment of the
association and her members.
"I want to thank God almighty, NCAN National Chairman, my predecessor,
zonal chairmen, local chairmen and other critical stakeholders for the
peaceful election recorded today. I promise to use my office change the
narratives of the association for the positive".
"my tenure shall not oppose government and her policies but will advise
and collaborate with the government on policies beneficial to NCAN and
her members. My target as the State Chairman is to use this association
to reduce poverty and in the state and place Kogi State on the world map
as truly the largest and highest producer of cashew. I shall bring the
government to recognize us and accord us our deserved respect and
position.
"this business has been bastardized by the actions of some unscrupulous
elements and farm encroachment by the white men who goes beyond their
legal boundaries hence disruption of the prices. My tenure shall
regulate the business in accordance with law of the land and NCAN
rules".
Alh. Duche use the opportunity to seeknfor support of all the members and stakeholders in discharge of his new duty.
The election had in attendance the National Chairman of NCAN Mr. Shaibu,
the state produce officer Mr. Kunle Afolabi, government
representatives, stakeholders and captains of cashew industry.
Before his election as the state chairman, Chief Duche was the Kogi East
Zonal Chairman of NCAN and have his warehouses in Anyigba and environs.
