Dr. Stephen Makoji Achema of blessed memory recognized the need for brotherhood through peaceful coexistence and mutual understanding. Hence, his role(s) in our political history both in Igala land and Kogi as a whole remain indelible. He stood for a united front because he believed in nothing less of a great fold as a people.
Today, it is sad that we are struggling to piece our broken puzzle caused by selfishness and self-inflicted hate amongst the rank and file of our communities.
How long is this going to continue for? As the election draws nears, it has become obvious of the desperation of a few skimming for a 3rd term Agenda under the guise of "The Rights to Contest" If Achema was a selfish man, he probably wouldn't have seek for a united front amongst all regardless of party affiliation.
Where is our morality? Why have we all chosen to keep mute over disturbing issues facing us which is capable of creating more walls than bridges because we do not want to be tagged? I am from the Ankpa Federal axis and having represented the State as Governor for 9 years, seeking a quick term again will only make it look as if the Ankpa Federal Axis is insensitive to the political body language of the entire Kogi easterners.
Such moves will not only expose our selfishness and greed, but it will leave a smack of efforts targeted to subdue other zones in the State which I think it's unwise and unacceptable.
The same way we yearn for an agreed rotation pattern as to which zone succeeds the other in Kogi State, I also think within Kogi East, we must respect this simple gentleman MOA.
It's so disturbing when we hear of some persons boasting that they will buy all delegates with money. It shows the level of desperation and the do-or-die mentality which has overtaken our sense of judgment.
So, after buying delegates with such heavy sums up to 500k+, and you are elected, you will plan to recoup with profit from the treasury of the State in furtherance to plunge our people and the State into economic and psychological hardship.
Tyrany comes in many shades and we must rise up against it with all forms of resistance. We must say NO to hijack of our collective agenda as a people.
The PDP must understand that, as it stands today, the entire Kogi is looking up to her for the redemption and they must ensure that they quash all forms of a 3rd term conspiracy by supporting an aspirant with the right credentials for a smooth political transition process of our dear State.
By a common understanding within the Eastern part of the State, Dekina Axis should be allowed to complete their term and then it moves to Idah axis in 2023, taking into cognizance that a candidate with ONE TERM exposure will aid this transition smoothly.
In all, I will sue for a united rotation patter to be agreed by the 3 senatorial districts of the State and we need a one term Governor who will drive this process.
This is a hard truth. As much as you may want to disagree with this because of the same interest challenge, there is no better time to set the records straight.
Long live Kogi.
