Until now, there is no doubt that the incumbent Governor Yahaya Adoza Bello of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) in Kogi State will not only clinch the ticket of his party and fly the flag for the fort coming governorship election on November 16, 2019 and coast home victoriously at the end of the exercise but the advertently twist of fate set to humiliate Governor Bello during the party primary may throw the governor's camp into total disarray and shake the foundation of his well rooted political structure in the state.

Before now, GYB political family is not disturbed with the big guns coming to wrestle power with their their under the same platform. To them 'it's a child play and an attempt to jump bail', said of the Governor's supporters in Ankpa who does not want his name in print.

The big guns include the immediate Chief of Naval Staff (CNS), Admiral Usman Jibrin (rtd), an Igala man from the Eastern Senatorial axis, the immediate Director General, NARSDA, Prof Seidu Onailo Ogah also from Igala, precisely Ankpa axis and former Chairman, Nigeria Football Federation, Alhaji Sanni Lulu.

The trio are said to have what it takes to flex muscles with the incumbent governor on different platform but chose to challenge him under APC. Despite their wide acceptability by various stakeholders and capability to slug it out with Governor for his money, GYB's footsoldiers have diminished their political fortune and are willing to disgracefully cripple their political wings during the primary.

Their major weak point is that they lack visible political structure to make good their threats during the contest. No wonder, Chief Edward Onoja, the powerful Chief of Staff to Kogi State Government once boasted on his social media page that 'we are talking of the margin of defeat and not the defeat itself, its a done deal for GYB', CEDO boasted.

The arrival of Mr Babatunde Irukera into the contest at this eleventh hour to primary election has confirmed that the political overture and truce made with Chief Bola Ahmed Tinubu may have turned sour.

Governor Bello had earlier visited President Mohammed Buhari in Aso Rock before proceeding to Lagos to visit Alh Tinubu shortly after picking his intent and interest forms from the party national secretariat in Abuja, the move which many saw as the done deal for his continuity in Lugard House, Lokoja.

Chief Tinubu's known interest in Kogi politics is to influence power shift to the Yoruba dominated Western Senatorial District of the state and assuage his tribesmen of the grip of Igala dominance in Kogi politics.

He entered into a gentleman agreement with the late political sage of the state, Prince Abubakar Audu who was at the verge of his victory before death took him away. As part of the arrangement, Rep James Faleke was nominated as the deputy governor and huge resources were deployed from Lagos to Kogi to wrestle power from the incumbent Governor Idris Wada.

Alas! God's way is different from ours, Audu died in the contest, the incumbent was defeated and Alh Yahaya Bello was preferred to inherit Prince Audu's votes and emerged the governor of the confluence state.

At the beginning of this contest, GYB political family was assuaged that Rep Faleke is not in the race, making it clear for GYB but the recent nomination of Rep Faleke as the member of the screening committee for Kogi election becomes suspicious and the emergence of Mr Babatunde Irukera, a close ally of the Jagaban of Nigeria's politics leave many to wonder if Chief Tinubu had not really forgiven Governor Yahaya Bello to continue with his occupation in Lugard House.
