Mr. Yahaya Bello, the Kogi governor has said Mr. Idris Wada, the former Kogi stage Governor presided over the worse insecurity in the state making it very uncomfortable for the state citizens to live and go about their normal duty.

The Governor made this known while speaking at the 1st Colloquium organised by the University of Abuja main campus on Wednesday.

The event organised under the chairmanship of Mr. Suleiman Mohammed, the Nasarawa state Vice Chancellor, was held at the faculty of art auditorium, had in attendance academia, politicians, CSOs, media and students.

Speaking at the event, Bello said, over 19 persons were killed at Deeper Life Church at Okene in Kogi state under the leadership of Wada.

The governor pointed out that because of the high insecurity in Kogi  under Wada, the Governor visited Okene where the church members were killed wearing bullet proof vest.

He wondered what happens to other citizens in the state when the Governor, the chief security officer of the state goes about in a bullet proof vest.

Bello said that most banks in the state could not operate as a result of insecurity under Wada leadership.

Under Wada, between 2011 to 2016, many banks could not operate in Lokoja and Ankpa because of insecurity, a situation that has been brought under control because of the effective way insecurity is been tackled under me, Bello claimed.

He also disclosed that Boko Haram under the leadership of Wada attacked Koto Kerfe prison close to Lokoja, the state capital setting free 119 inmates.

Since I came onboard, no bank robbery has been recorded in Kogi while I have made the state safe, for the people of the state, the Governor said.

Because of our concern to ensure Kogi is safe, we have put in place Kogi Vilantee that works with the police and other security agencies to fight insecurity in Kogi and ensure the state is secured.

The Governor said that the state has recruited over 3000 youth who are now working with the Vilantee to help secure the state.
